I'm a Feng Shui professional consultant and my goal is to inspire people to take action and transform their homes and businesses through Feng Shui methods and sustainability.
Here’s a trip immersed in new discoveries through Mexican lands and the Caribbean Sea, ancient lands of ancient people and with a strong presence of their ancestry. There would certainly still be a lot to discover here, but I was already amazed by what I saw, such a harmonious combination of the 5 elements in this soulful place, which always transports me to Feng Shui.
Check out my photos and see how they relate with the elements, can you tell?
1- Water Element 2- Wood Element 3- Fire Element 4 – Earth Element 5 – Metal Element
For the practice of Feng Shui, mountain energy has really a lot to say. In reading the Luo Pan compass, for example, any direction (cardinal point) is associated with 3 mountains, yin or yang, that help in the deeper interpretation of the study in question.
Also in its form, in China the symbolism that is inherent to mountains determines their auspiciousness for the people who live in that region, which can be very good or on the contrary not at all beneficial, therefore there are several terms and classifications for mountains, such as dragon mountains.
In general,mountain representations are linked to the earth element, meaning support, stability and protection, which is why it is used in the location of buildings and within spaces precisely to attract these beneficial energies to the inhabitants.
Inside the building, the mountain representation should also be applied when placing tables, beds and other seating furniture, positioning them in front of a supporting wall. In order to achieve well-being, success and empowerment we should begin with the basic for human life, that we feel safe.
As a Feng Shui practitioner and consultant, I’m often asked when I enter someone’s home if the house has good or bad Feng Shui and people often start listing questions about something they read somewhere.
In fact, the answer is always the same, although some of us might have a first impression of the space , I have no way of evaluating this unless I carry out an in-depth study of the house and its inhabitants.
This is due to the fact that it is generally considered that the energy of spaces only occurs within them, which makes it good or bad, but here is the important message: around 70% of the energy comes from outside and 30% are the inhabitants themselves who bring inside.
Therefore, most of the energy within spaces actually comes from its inhabitants, from the energetic quality that comes from doors and windows and these are one of the key aspects when carrying out a Feng Shui study, remembering that even within our home, the entire environment and surroundings have a huge influence on us.
For the practice of Feng Shui, Christmas is a Western tradition and although it’s not a Chinese custom, this vibration of yang energy brings light and color to our homes and spaces all around the world, but unfortunately it also brings a lot of waste and excess costs.
Therefore, there is no better time to rethink our Christmas season and try to achieve a more sustainable environment at home:
Welcoming the Tree Element into our homes is already a trend, but at this time of year we can add some seasonal plants and leaves that also have a wonderful fragrance, such as pine branches, eucalyptus, bay leaves, holly and mistletoe;
Use what you already have from other years and choose some free ideas from the forest, use your imagination and involve the children in the task;
Using LED lighting is a great option for saving energy, as the lights stay on for much longer during this season feeding the Fire Element;
There are so many gift wrapping options, try adding your personalized finish with old wrapping paper, newspapers, natural string, ribbons, fabrics, etc.
Pamper your home with warm, cozy and soft blankets and pillows, as well as other textiles from sustainable sources enjoying the comfort of Earth Element.
Finally, if we all try to make sustainable choices as much as possible, such as buying less and choosing locally and responsibly, we could change the fact that this time of year is when global waste reaches its annual peak, aiming for a more ecofriendly Christmas.
Storing firewood for the fireplace or another source of heat should be ensured at a time when we feel that the air we breathe is colder and a warmer coat is needed.
We can also prepare our spaces, whether a home or a business, by storing firewood, cleaning heaters or air conditioning and making environments more comfortable and welcoming so that we feel protected and warm.
Adding some candles or lights can also enhance the space since we have less light this time of year.
Remember that preparing the homes for winter is a quite a natural task in nature amongst the animals, so the best Feng Shui is also to be aligned with nature and all its transformations.
